Interview with Sylvs

Interview with Sylvs

Hiya b-geeks. As Sylvs has already told you, we had the idea to interview each other. Here’s my interview. Credit goes to @sylvs for creating the questions

1. Favourite singer/band
Probably BTS, Stray Kids, Day6 and Pentagon. I love KPOP a lot but I guess I’m also going back to 2016 rock era where I listened to a lot of The 1975 as well as Eminem. I’m trying to learn the rap to Rap God and to Lose Yourself.

2. Favourite movie + tv show
The Breakfast Club has to be a favourite of mine. I know it’s an old movie from the 80’s but it has this awesome soundtrack and it’s just epic in general! I also love Edward Scissorhands, Disney movies and The Conjuring. I don’t watch that many movies or TV shows nowadays (especially since I don’t have Netflix or any streaming services at home) but I really want to watch a lot more horror I want to get over my fear of gruesome things and gore. In terms of TV shows? Riverdale, Teen Wolf and my favourite, Buzzfeed Unsolved Supernatural and True Crime Mysteries. I love Shane Madej and Ryan Begara so much! It’s so funny watching a sceptic and a believer debate against whether ghosts are real or not.

3. Favourite colour
I don’t have one but I do like my shades: Black and white. They just go with everything and look really cool.

4. Favourite food
Pizza probably but I also really like those gourmet burgers from those fancy restaurants. In general, I just try getting food from those really cool hipster cafes around town.

5. Favourite book character of all time
Probably Simon Spier (and basically all the characters from Simon vs The Homosapien’s Agenda) but I must say I also love Theodore Finch (All the Bright Places), Ezra and Nik (The Illuminae Files) Gideon (My Lady Jane), Magnus Bane (The Mortal Instruments series), Nikolai (Grishaverse), Sage (Geekerella) and Celaena (Throne of Glass)

6. If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why
I just want to go everywhere in the world. I just want to experience everything and meet new people and experience different cultures. If this place in the world speaks a different language than I do then even better!

7. If you could be stuck in any FICTIONAL world which fictional world would it be and why
Good question because I seriously have no idea. I would love to get stuck in YA fantasy books but there is a lot of killing and murder. And let’s just say I want to keep my limbs. I’d have to say though Harry Potter because… well… it’s Harry Potter enough said! Who wouldn’t want to make potions and charms and learn to defends against the dark arts? Also, I would love to walk down Diagon Alley and meet Hagrid in real life.

8. If you could become a fictional character for ONE MONTH who would it be and why
Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone. She has blue hair, can fly, she’s friends with the ultimate couple: Zuzanna and Mik and is dating my book boyfriend Akiva!

9. A Hidden Talent
I can twitch my eye. Also I can die fangirling if you consider that a talent.

10. How long does it take you to read one book
Nowadays it takes me 2 days before it used to take me a week. The longest I have ever spent reading a book was 2 months and that was City of Ashes. Funny considering it taken me the shortest amount of time to read the thickest Mortal Instrument book and the longest to read the shortest Mortal Instrument book.

11. Favourite thing to do over the weekend
Probably reading but I also love really song car rides with music playing in the background.

12. Favourite sport to play
Haha! Me? Playing sport? Now that’s funny. I am awful at playing sport. Thing is I think I’ll be good if I tried doing it but after a while I just stopped getting involved. In ball games I used to run behind the person who had the ball so that they had no chance of passing it to me. It’s sad because if I wanted to get involved in stuff I actually wanted to participate in everyone just avoided me because I was (and am) awful at every sport that they play in PE class but in reality I just get really self-conscious when playing for some reason like everyone is watching me and judging my passes and stuff like that and I hate feeling that way so after a while I just stopped even trying. I prefer doing sports by myself or with people that I don’t really know all that well because then I know that everyone is the same level and just as good as one another instead of having someone one above everyone.

13. Weirdest dream
Weirdest dream was when I was on a space training camp and met Harrison Ford (who plays Han Solo in Star Wars) I was going to make him meet my die-hard Star Wars fan of a sister when suddenly the camp started falling apart and Harrison Ford and I tried to escape. That was when the dream ended but to this day I still think of it as very weird indeed.

14. Favourite song to belt out
I have a horrible singing voice but I guess I belt out Despacito. I spent a whole week of my holidays just learning the Spanish! (Yes, believe that I actually did spent a week just doing that. I annoyed my whole family practising it)

15. Next book you are going to read (next book on your TBR)
Good question. I don’t know. Usually I just go with whatever book interests me in that moment but I’m reading Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare for school.

16. Favourite book genre
Young Adult. I even go to a YA book club in the city! I don’t mind any genre just not thriller or crime. I don’t mind it but it can be done in such a way that it becomes really far-fetched.

17. Favourite childhood book
Spot the Dog and Hairy McClary were my childhood picture books. When I was 5-6 Magic Ballerina and Rainbow Magic was life. When I was 7-8 I loved Magic Kitten and Magic Puppy (these books got me into reading). I loved EJ12 when I was 8-9. I loved My Sister the Vampire when I was 10 and Tom Gates when I was 12.

18. Favourite animal
I have this weird love of wolves and foxes. Don’t even ask me why

19. Most anticipated 2018 release
Lifelike by Jay Kristoff as well as Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas and Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare.

20. Dream job
Writer, Journalist, Screenwriter or Chef. My dream is probably to be a music journalist or to become what Ellen, James Corden, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel are in America only down-under. I would love to try being a chef too and selling my own cookbooks as well as making these crazy dishes like a croquembouche and “The Mystique” from Masterchef!

21. Spirit animal
Apparently a dolphin.

22. Something that you cannot stand (pet peeves)
When people bend the book over. Also, the sound of a fork scrapping against a plate (insert cringe here) and also people who are very bossy and very strict.

23. Best place you ever been to
Canberra. I loved Questacon and the Royal Australian Mint (I collect unique coins. Don’t judge)

24. If you could be stuck in a movie world for 1 MONTH which movie would it be
Velaris in A Court of Mist and Fury! It’s so pretty!

25. Which fantasy creature would you be and why
Vampire, werewolf or angel. Vampires because Barnabus Collins from Dark Shadows is one (and I love Dark Shadows) and also because there are so many myths that go along with them. Werewolves because they have this whole community or wolf pack that protects one another and it always feels like you belong there. Angels because Akiva is one and also because my book characters are angels and I think it’ll be a cool learning experience to fly and to live like my own book characters.

26. Worst song/music genre
Mumble rap, R&B and Country.

27. If you were to be famous what would you be famous for
For becoming the craziest person on earth

28. If you were the only person on earth what would you do
• Raid the confectionary section of Coles
• Sing I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston or My Heart Will Go On really off key and very loudly.
• I will do a stupid dance in public
• Raid Hot Topic (in America) and steal all the band Merch
• Go everywhere I want to go around the world
• Go to a third world country and use the resources that I no longer need to pay for to make it become a second or first world country when and if humans ever come back

29. Who/what inspires you
BTS (Jin and Jimin went through not eating/anorexia, Suga went through depression and anxiety, V was getting a lot of hate with people saying that he can’t sing etc.) and Stray Kids’s Felix. He couldn’t speak Korean very well and was only fluent in English and Aussie Slang but he’s trying his best especially since he is in a pretty popular boy band and can speak Korean even better.

30. Greatest fear
Never being good enough. Dying as a nobody and spiders. I’m not kidding if you show me a spider I WILL SCREAM VERY LOUDLY THAT YOU CAN HEAR ME EVEN IN MEXICO!

31. What your friends would describe you as
A crazy weird kid with a big heart and awful puns.

32. What do you wish you were good at
Witty comebacks, Becoming not as stiff in KPOP classes by learning how to use my chest, hips and legs, business/work calls, skateboarding, speaking Spanish, French and Korean, visually learning things (watch a dance video and know exactly how to pull off those moves instead of what I do: write down the movements and read from the sheet) and singing.

33. If you wrote an autobiography what would it be called
Croquembouche: The Autobiography of someone who started on the bottom and worked her way to the top

34. lucky number
14

35. If you won the lotto what would you spend the money on
Around the World Trip and a cruise on Royal Carribean.

36. Most embarrassing experience
This is going to be a very traumatic tale indeed but I was in year 3 and I was in art class having free time. I was sitting across from two populars who I started talking to a lot that day to the point where I thought we could potentially become friends. That lesson I was writing a “dream book” which was really just a list of my goals in the future. I just wanted to become famous when I was little and wrote down for the last point: point 8: “Go to Sydney and publish my book and come back to school extremely popular.” And so, then those populars took the dream book out of my hands and read the points out to the whole class. I sat there paralysed as everyone started laughing even when people came up to me and asked if I was ok. I don’t think I ever spent that long so still and unblinking.

37. 5 interesting facts about you
-I actually liked Twilight when I was in year 8 (my favourite book) I was totally team Jacob just saying!
-I used to want to be a singer when I was 5 (yes, I know big joke if you heard me sing)
-I used to actually HATE BTS (I used to sarcastically say BTS stood for Bat Transformation Society which was this whole KPOP cult. Everyone thought I hated BTS (which was not the case but despite me saying that I didn’t hate them everyone just assumed I did) and I listened and fangirled about them in secret and very low key. It was after the release of the Mic Drop remix that I became possessed and obsessed with them and KPOP.)
-I used to be considered as one of the best Octagon players in year 7-8. I was on level 636 and while everyone played with three fingers I played with only one. I also passed all the ranks on Papa’s Cheeseria, Papa’s Cupcakeria, Papa’s Bakeria, Papa’s Hot-doggeria, Papa’s Donuteria at least 1-4 times.
-I haven’t hung out with a friend outside of school until I was in year 6.

38. Best thing about you
My teeth. I have straight teeth now after a year with jaw extensions (you could hear this metal clicking in my mouth and it was a nightmare to eat apples or burgers with them) and two years with braces (yes again a nightmare especially after having them put into your mouth. On the day I got my jaw extensions and bottom braces I got a WiiU console and Splatoon) I guess also my charisma and how I spread joy to others.

39. If you could control any element which one would it be and why
Fire! Definitely fire! I always loved that element it is the element of love, passion and anger. Fire can be destructive or it can be beautiful.

40. Your patronus (Harry potter)
A mole according to Pottermore.
